It's like the start of a new, elongated career for a really solid actor. It makes a lot of sense to me that once age has it's way, and female actors are pushed either to tough Tilda Swinton / Frances McDormand roles or to heavy makeup and de-aging, then becoming male and diving into male roles could be more advantageous, though in this case not necessarily part of a deliberate plan. Isn't that what producers and casting directors look for? Someone who just looks the part, as well as having a certain magnitude of acting ability and some range.
